November 5, 2008 marked one of the greatest historical days in both American and African American history, the day President Barack Obama got elected in a once so separated and culturally ignorant racist society. It was such a moving moment for everyone around the world because this pivotal moment in history indicated that maybe our society has changed or can change. It was a very silly and child-like notion to think that America would truly accept President Obama for who he truly is: a human being and not just an African-American man. Granted being President of a nation already in ruins is not an easy task but President Obama makes it look too easy. His calm demeanor and charisma has yet to fade away. The man is brilliant. From the beautiful First Lady and First Daughters this family has taken America by storm and have remained humbled even in the midst of the hard times of America and the constant scrutiny of the public and media. From the minute he has been inaugurated into office there is not a thing that President Obama can do without the media taking it the wrong way or making an issue out of nothing. Everything, I do mean everything that he does has been taking to another level an effort to defame him. You've got immature Republicans who refuse to get off their high horse and work with him on bettering the country. And on the other side you've got people who think that he is suppose to solve any and every problem over night. I'm sorry people. It just does not work like that. Change takes time. It cannot be done by one person but a team of people. We cannot count on President Obama to fix our household debts if we are over here spending our tax refunds on new plasma flat screens. It seems to be that everyone is failing to take responsibility and step up and fill space where it is empty. We all in be apart of this change. There are many things that we can do individually on a lower level that can help ourselves and this country. So give it up already, President Obama cannot buy you a new car, he cannot get you a new job, and he damn sure can't pay your bills! To the people who did not vote for him, get over it. He is your President, deal with it. President Obama is doing a great job with the mess that he has inherited. I just pray that God keeps him safe in the midst of all the craziness in this world.
