EVERY Girl Wants to be a Model....Avoid SCAMS!

Just in complete amazement on how every time I log onto Facebook or Myspace, there is always a girl on there promoting herself as a model. And please do not get me wrong, I am the farthest from jealous I am just curious as to what creepy guy, who called himself a photographer did you let take pictures of you? Ladies, be careful. A lot of photographers present themselves as professional when they are simply creepy guys with a camera. They have no experience, no connections and cannot ensure or direct your future as a model. Be mindful, who you let take pictures of you. Ask questions. If you are posing in this man's bathroom topless where do you think these pictures are going? All that I am saying is think before you randomly accept to take pictures for a pervert. Here's a list of how to avoid scams and helpful insights on when to back away!

Tips on How to Avoid Scams

Never deposit any type of check into your account If you are working with a photographer and he mails a check to you "overseas" please do not deposit that in your account. Need an example? Here is a letter than I received today about a modeling gig.

So how to peep the scam let's start

1. Anyone who is addressing you in an interest e-mail would use your name "Hello Dominique" not "Hi Model." If they do not have enough time to type your name in an e-mail that they are sending you than ladies/gents its a scam. Think about it, any professional e-mail that you have ever received has had your name!

2. The guy says he has a client in Scotland, therefore someone you cannot track down or contact because he is overseas. Be careful about things sent to you from overseas, it is hard for the FBI to trace back this kind of spam.

3. Spelling words incorrectly! Whomever you are working with, you would want that person to be as professional as possible and know how to use spell check. Goes to show that this person put little to no time into this e-mail further making me think it is scam!

4. Google the person's name. I have a rule that I will not work with anyone that I cannot google and find a credible site for.

5. Trust your instincts do not let the money amaze you. If it sounds too good to be true, investigate and trust your instinct because 9 times out of 10 you are probably right. And I know making an easy $400 sounds good, but do not let the cash amaze you. You'll end up depositing a check into your account just to find out that the check you are cashing is fraud!

To all aspiring models, there are many people out there just waiting to take advantage of you, be on your P's and Q's, know how to spot a scam and once you do......runnnnnnnn
